Five Houses Ordered for Rapid Construction in Artsakh with Russian Support; Project Enters Pilot Implementation Phase
The Ministry of Urban Development of the Republic of Artsakh has received over 3,000 applications related to houses damaged or destroyed due to the war, according to the latest data. Deputy Minister of Urban Development Azat Hambardzumyan stated in an interview with Armenpress that these applications are primarily from Stepanakert.
"The process of registering damaged houses is ongoing. This figure of three thousand is naturally not a final number. Besides Stepanakert, leaders from other administrative regions of Artsakh are also conducting registrations. I believe that in a week we will have a comprehensive picture," Azat Hambardzumyan said.
Out of the mentioned more than three thousand houses, specialists have conducted assessments for about 1,000. The deputy minister noted that the majority of these houses can be restored and made habitable. Among the verified thousand houses, only 20 are completely destroyed, where renovation work is not possible.
Although the registration process is still ongoing, it does not mean that renovation work on damaged houses is not being carried out. According to Azat Hambardzumyan, work is being done in all directions.
"On one hand, we are registering, and on the other, we are carrying out construction works. Everything is being done to expedite the process. There are numerous houses where windows and doors have been damaged, and these can be quickly repaired. I can say that currently, renovation and restoration work is being carried out in more than 200 houses in Stepanakert," Azat Hambardzumyan stated.
It was previously reported that with Russian support, a total of approximately 8,000 rapidly constructed residential houses are planned. Azat Hambardzumyan mentioned that there is also progress in this direction.
"The Ministry of Urban Development has already ordered five initial houses to see what they represent, so we can begin mass construction afterwards," he added.
