Defense Minister visits new positions in southeastern border zone
The Minister of Defense of Armenia, Vagharshak Harutyunyan, visited the southeastern border zone of Armenia on December 18. He monitored the ongoing combat duty in the new positions and spoke with commanders and servicemen.
According to the information provided by the Ministry of Defense’s Department of Information and Public Relations, Minister Harutyunyan also visited areas where the distance between Armenian and Azerbaijani positions is, in some cases, only 100 meters.
The head of the defense agency paid special attention to the living conditions of the newly created and equipped positions, as well as the trench infrastructure designed for the personnel on combat duty. The commander of the Southern Military District reported to Minister Harutyunyan that furnishing work has already begun in the new positions, specifically to ensure the full implementation of combat duty under unfavorable weather conditions.
Major General Jirair Poghosyan, the commander of the military district, noted that the scale of work is gradually increasing and will become especially intensive during the spring months.
During the meeting with the personnel, Vagharshak Harutyunyan expressed gratitude to the servicemen who participated in the war, awarded outstanding officers and conscripts, and emphasized that the defense agency would take all necessary measures to make the front line as safe as possible for service and to create necessary living conditions.
The Minister also issued directives to the commanders of the units regarding rear support, construction of bases, and carrying out combat duty.
