Borrell Expresses Concern Over Turkey's Involvement and Terrorists in Nagorno-Karabakh Issue

On December 17, ahead of the third meeting of the Armenia-EU Partnership Council scheduled to take place in Brussels, Armenian Foreign Minister Ara Aivazyan held a private conversation with Josep Borrell, the European Commission Vice President and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

Both sides emphasized that the upcoming meeting of the Partnership Council is a good opportunity to summarize the achievements made within the scope of Armenia-EU partnership and to engage in substantive discussions regarding future actions and programs.

Key topics of discussion between the Foreign Minister and the EU High Representative included regional security and stability issues. Addressing the aggression against the people of Artsakh by Turkey and Azerbaijan and its consequences, the head of Armenia's foreign policy agency deemed unacceptable the violation of the values underpinning the initiatives of an EU member state and the dangerous precedent set by Turkey's active support of attempts to resolve conflicts in the Eastern Partnership region through force.

The Foreign Minister expressed deep concern that the actions of Azerbaijan, directly involving Turkey and foreign militant terrorists supported by it, threaten the security environment in the Eastern Partnership region and could have disastrous consequences for regional security.
