Azerbaijanis Sing and Celebrate All Day, Oppressing Residents: Only Village Head and School Director Remain in Hin Shen

In the village of Hin Shen in the Shushi region, there are no security guarantees, and residents are leaving the village. This was stated by the village mayor in an interview with NEWS.am.

The mayor reported that in the area adjacent to the community, where the Azerbaijani Armed Forces are located, they sing and celebrate all day, which oppresses the residents.

“The village is already being depopulated; people are inclined to leave. If there are no security guarantees, the village will be depopulated. If security is ensured, the people will return. It’s just me and the school principal here,” said David Davtyan.

The mayor added that currently, there are no Armenian soldiers in the village. “Our soldiers have been withdrawn; now Russian peacekeepers are present,” he noted.

NEWS.am also spoke with Artak Hakobyan, the head of the Yeghdzahogh community in the Shushi region, where the adversary had given a deadline of several hours three days ago to leave the village and the surrounding areas.

He stated that the situation in the community is calm at the moment. Negotiations took place yesterday between Russian peacekeepers and Azerbaijani military personnel.

“The situation is apprehensive. Three days ago, the adversary gave us a deadline; we are waiting for Muradov's decision. A meeting was organized through the peacekeepers yesterday. The Russians have proven that we are on our territory, and they have obliged the Azerbaijanis to remain in their place. The peacekeepers should have informed Muradov, and a final decision should be made. Now we are waiting for Muradov's decision,” the community head explained, adding that there are currently no Russian peacekeepers in the community.

He noted that the community residents have not been evacuated. “The residents understand that this village is Armenian,” he affirmed.

It should be recalled that since December 13, Azerbaijanis have effectively closed the exits and entrances to the villages of Hin Shen and Mets Shen, leaving the residents in a blockade. On December 16, the press secretary of the President of Artsakh, Vahram Poghosyan, announced that Hin Shen had been unblocked.
