Soldiers Injured or Disabled During War to Receive Additional 200,000 Dram for Six Months
The government has approved a support measure for soldiers who have sustained injuries or disabilities due to military operations launched by Azerbaijan.
According to Armenpress, the resolution stipulates that the necessary funds for this measure will be provided by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia to the Fund for Compensation of Damages to Soldiers' Lives or Health within five working days after the decision comes into force, amounting to 500 million dram. Afterward, funds will be allocated quarterly based on the reports submitted by the Fund regarding actual expenses incurred within the framework of this measure.
In accordance with existing legal regulations, social protection for soldiers recognized as 1st or 2nd group disabled due to military actions launched by Azerbaijan is carried out from the resources of the Fund for Compensation of Damages to Soldiers' Lives or Health. To become a beneficiary of the Fund, a causal link must be established between the disability (injury or deformation) and participation in military operations or special assignments on the contact line with the adversary or actions in response to aggressive actions by the opponent.
It is important to note that determining this causal link requires a certain period according to the established procedures. Accordingly, based on the Fund's Council decision No. 3 dated June 14, 2018, a procedure has been established under which, pending the establishment of the aforementioned causal link, a person may be paid 100,000 dram per month from the Fund for a period of six months.
Beneficiaries of this measure include service members from the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the National Security Service, and the police of the Republic of Armenia, who are covered by points 9-17 of the Fund's Council decision No. 9 dated March 2, 2017, meaning that if a soldier is eligible under this decision, they will receive 100,000 dram monthly.
The amount of assistance provided under this measure totals 200,000 dram, which is given in addition to the 100,000 dram paid by the Fund. If the project is approved, soldiers injured or disabled during the military operations launched by Azerbaijan on September 27, 2020, before becoming beneficiaries of the Fund, will receive an additional 200,000 dram per month (totaling 300,000 dram).
