Shots Fired in Kapan to Clear Path for Injured Soldier's Hospital Transfer, Says Surbuhie Grigoryan

"Since morning, I have been in contact with the heads of all communities in the Syunik region and I have learned that the situation is quite tense there, particularly in Kapan and Goris. The Yerevan-Kapan highway is in a state of uncertainty," said Surbuhie Grigoryan, a member of the "Luminary Armenia" faction, in an interview with ArmDaily.am.

According to her, the situation is unclear and people are demanding clarifications from the government: "It is a natural demand. In the near future, we as parliamentarians are planning to be in these areas, meet with citizens, and have discussions, since as a result of the disgraceful agreement, Syunik is now bordering on both sides and considerable problems will arise in the spring when livestock breeders go to pastures and so on. We have seen that just two days ago, there was a new incident of abduction and there is no guarantee that this will be the limit. The current government is marking the borders with GPS, which is quite erroneous. You know that Azerbaijan has satellites, and it is natural that everything will be done on their part and GPS will work in their favor. The authorities are hesitating, clinging to their seats. The situation is very mixed, I don’t know what will happen; we will go and find out on the spot. There have been gunshots in Kapan; I called to confirm. The road was blocked there, and air was fired to clear the way for the injured soldier’s transport to the hospital."
