Russia's Presence in Nagorno-Karabakh Poses Stability Risks, Says US State Department
Clarke Cooper, Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs, asserts that Russia's presence in Nagorno-Karabakh poses a "risk of destabilization." This information was reported by RIA Novosti.
During a press conference, an Azerbaijani journalist asked Cooper how the US plans to help the countries in the region withstand Russian influence.
"You noted, and I certainly agree with this observation, that wherever there is a Russian presence, there is a risk of destabilization and, of course, a challenge to all participating states and parties," Cooper responded.
He emphasized that the US supports the necessity of peaceful negotiations and the involvement of the Minsk Group, as well as giving "additional attention to the humanitarian aspect."
