Kapani (Zangezur) Region Villages Will Not Be Handed Over to Azerbaijan, Syunik Regional Administration
Armenian users on Facebook, referencing Azerbaijani media, reported that 12 villages in the Kapani (Zangezur) region and the city of Kapani would be handed over to Azerbaijan. The list includes Kaghunut, David Bek, Ujanis, Yeghvard, Agarak, Ditsmayeri, Syunik, Jakatn, Shikahogh, Nerqin Hand, Tsav, Geghanush villages and the city of Kapani.
In response to these reports, Factor.am received clarifications from the Syunik regional administration. Armine Avagyan, an advisor to the Syunik governor, stated that this information is false and is being spread by the enemy. “The positions we need to regain will adjoin these villages, making us neighbors. The last one mentioned in the list is Kapani, which is a provocation. These villages are part of the city of Kapani and, of course, will not be handed over to Azerbaijan. The names of these villages have been frequently mentioned today, and people are understandably concerned about their safety. Naturally, they will not be given up,” said the governor's advisor.
