Defense Minister Meets with Community Leaders of Syunik Province
During a working visit to Syunik Province on December 17, Armenian Minister of Defense Vagharshak Harutyunyan met with several community leaders in the region.
The participants of the meeting conveyed their concerns regarding the complex situation that has arisen due to border adjustments in the province. The community leaders noted that due to the changes in the border demarcation, a number of settlements, including the provincial center of Kapan, would fall within the enemy’s target zone.
The Minister of Defense stated that the border is being adjusted in the presence of senior officers from both sides, and that not a single meter of Armenian territory would be conceded.
It was emphasized that Russian border guards would carry out surveillance in these areas, and an agreement has already been reached on this, which will create additional guarantees to strengthen the security system.
Vagharshak Harutyunyan also mentioned that a comprehensive set of measures is being implemented to ensure the security of these zones, specifically through the formation of new military units and the establishment of new infrastructures, and that this process will continue.
