Meeting with Vazgen Manukyan Held at the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia
On December 16, 2020, a meeting took place at the presidency of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia with Vazgen Manukyan, the candidate for Prime Minister from the Homeland Salvation Movement. This was reported by the NAS RA.
The discussion focused on ways to overcome the challenges facing the Republic of Armenia. Issues such as ensuring security, clarifying the status of Artsakh, restoring the army, raising the significance of national values, and improving the quality of education were addressed. The resumption of negotiations on the Artsakh issue within the framework of the Minsk Group was emphasized.
Vazgen Manukyan stressed the importance of implementing a legitimate change of power. “In the first year, the future trajectory of Armenia should be established, how we should have a national democratic country that is well defended and plays a role in this region,” he said.
The President of NAS RA, Academician Radik Martirosyan, highlighted the role of science in bringing the country out of a difficult situation. He noted that for the development of science, state support and financial investments are necessary, which have, in fact, been minimal since the collapse of the Soviet Union. “Even with those limited resources, Armenian science has achievements and is a leader among the countries of the Caucasus. The development of our country, the development of the people and the state is impossible without science. Today's science implies the integration of large groups and scientific structures to achieve serious results,” said the President of NAS RA.
Speeches were delivered by NAS RA academicians Lenser Aghalovyan, Yuri Suvaryan, Eduard Ghazaryan, Ashot Saghyan, Gagik Ghazinyan, Ashot Melkonyan, corresponding member Arsen Khakumyan, and head of the NAS RA Diaspora Department Vanya Barseghyan.
