Armenian Foreign Minister Reveals Conditions for Considering Recognition of Artsakh
Armenia will consider the process of recognizing the Republic of Artsakh if Azerbaijan expresses disagreement regarding the inclusion of Artsakh's status issue in the negotiation agenda. This was stated by Foreign Minister Ara Ayvazyan in an interview with the French newspaper Le Monde.
"The right of peoples to self-determination is the cornerstone of the peace negotiations. Armenia has not recognized the independence of Artsakh solely to provide an opportunity for a negotiated solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Some today are mistaken in believing that military force has removed the issue of Artsakh's status from the agenda. In this regard, the co-chairs of the Minsk Group have reaffirmed that the issue of Artsakh's status will continue to remain on the negotiation agenda, which is satisfactory. In the event of Azerbaijan's disagreement on this matter, Armenia will consider the process of recognizing the Republic of Artsakh," Ayvazyan said.
