63-Year-Old Resident Commits Sexual Acts Against Minor

The investigative committee of Armenia's particularly important cases has uncovered the circumstances surrounding the sexual acts committed by a 63-year-old resident of Yerevan against a girl under the age of 12.

According to the factual data obtained during the investigation, the 63-year-old man, having established a close relationship with a family living in Yerevan, took advantage of the absence of the child's parents. He visited their apartment twice in September 2019, as well as in February 2020, during which he committed sexual acts against the helpless child.

Based on sufficient evidence obtained, the 63-year-old man has been charged under Article 139, Part 3, Subpoint 2 of the RA Criminal Code (Sexual Violent Acts). As a measure of restraint, a written assurance not to leave the country has been imposed on him. The pre-trial investigation has been completed, and the criminal case has been sent to the prosecutor with a request to confirm the indictment.
