Promotion of Anti-Armenianism Has Led to Atrocities Against Armenians in Artsakh: Ombudsman
The Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan hosted a meeting today with the former mayor of Lyon, France, Dr. Gevorg Kepenyakian, and Dr. Khalil Etouin, the head of the "Mother-Child" program at the Merieux Foundation.
During the meeting, the Defender presented the atrocities committed by Azerbaijani armed forces between September and November, detailing their brutality and tortures inflicted on both military personnel and civilians.
According to the Defender, targeting the peaceful population of Artsakh and using prohibited weaponry against them, the involvement of mercenary terrorists, the endorsement of anti-Armenianism, and widespread atrocities and inhumane treatment are indicators of Azerbaijan's policy aimed at carrying out ethnic cleansing through terrorist methods in Artsakh, which continues to this day.
Arman Tatoyan emphasized his conclusion that for many years, anti-Armenianism and the killing of Armenians have been actively encouraged in Azerbaijan, with those committing these acts receiving state awards. This has resulted in severe violations of human rights against Armenians in Artsakh, including inhumane atrocities and acts of brutality.
All of this is reflected in the extraordinary report published by the Defender.
Participants in the meeting highlighted the importance of cooperation in the field of human rights protection and reached an agreement on further collaboration.
