Former NSS Director: 'Having worked for the NSS for 22 years, how can I not meet with my colleagues?'
The former Director of the National Security Service (NSS), Mikayel Hambardzumyan, has reportedly been preparing to organize a gathering of high-ranking officers, according to information published today in the media. According to the newspaper 'Pasht', Hambardzumyan has been actively meeting with senior officers from the national security service, police, and generally the law enforcement system, as well as high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Defense (particularly colonels and generals) and former officials during these days.
Hraparak.am writes that we contacted Hambardzumyan to understand whether these reports were accurate and what kind of gathering was being discussed. However, Hambardzumyan stated that he had not seen the reports and could not comment. When asked if he was organizing a gathering of officers, the former director replied, 'I have nothing to do with it. If I do, I will announce it officially, alright?' He then stated that he lives in this city, has many friends and colleagues, and can meet with various people, but he would leave the specific information published in the media without comment.
'I have met, am meeting, and will continue to meet with my many colleagues and discuss various issues. Naturally, we are people living in this country. I am a person who was born and raised in Yerevan, having worked for the NSS for 22 years, how can I not meet with my colleagues?' said the former NSS director.
