Iran Will Not Accept Any Preconditions for Returning to Nuclear Deal, Rouhani Says
Tehran will not accept any preconditions for returning to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). This was stated by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, according to TASS.
"We do not accept any preconditions from anyone," he said in response to a question about the possible requirement of including limitations on Iran's missile program as a condition for returning to the nuclear deal by the next U.S. president.
According to Rouhani, "the parties had previously agreed on the nuclear deal."
"Either we will implement this agreement, or we will not," he noted. Rouhani also stated that Iran would have no issues with fulfilling the JCPOA's conditions if the U.S. decides to return to the agreement.
On July 14, 2015, the P5+1 (United Kingdom, Germany, China, Russia, the United States, France) and Iran announced the acquisition of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. In May 2018, the U.S. announced its unilateral withdrawal from it and the reinstatement of strict sanctions against the Islamic Republic. On May 8, Iran announced the suspension of the implementation of a number of provisions of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action regarding Iran's nuclear program.
