Continuing Our Efforts for the Return of Other Prisoners Held in Azerbaijan

Human rights defender Artak Zeynalyan and lawyer Siranuhi Sahakyan announced on Facebook: "We are pleased to inform about the return of some of the Armenian prisoners held in Azerbaijan. As part of this process, military personnel and civilians who were captured during the large-scale war that began on September 27, 2020, as well as individuals taken captive before the war, have returned to their homeland. We had committed to protecting the rights of these persons in the European Court of Human Rights.

More than half of those returning are prisoners for whom we had filed complaints against Azerbaijan in the European Court in order to safeguard their rights. We will inform the public about our further steps aimed at fully restoring their rights. At the same time, we reaffirm the continuation of our persistent efforts for the return of other Armenian prisoners still held in Azerbaijan."
