Armenia Will Soon Have to Make Decisions Regarding the Kubatly and Zangelan Regions, Says Nikol Pashinyan

Armenia will soon have to make decisions regarding the Kubatly and Zangelan regions. This was stated today by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during an extraordinary meeting of the Security Council.

“There is no mention of these regions in the joint statement because, unfortunately, at the time of the signing of the statement, those territories were largely under the control of Azerbaijani forces, meaning that only small parts remained. During the negotiations, there was an understanding that border clarifications should take place in these areas,” said Pashinyan.

The Prime Minister did not rule out that there may be some tensions surrounding this process in the near future. “The nuance here is that we have a strategically important road passing through that area, and there are certain questions regarding the clarification of its borders and coordinates. Discussions were held yesterday in Moscow with the participation of the defense minister until midnight,” Pashinyan added, noting that there are several proposals and options for resolving the situation, and the Armenian side will have to decide on one of these options in the near future.
