According to my prediction, extraordinary parliamentary elections will take place within 6 months. Edmon Marukyan
If the electoral code is amended, elections must be held in 6 months, as per the requirements of the Venice Commission. If there are no changes, we can hold elections tomorrow, but under equal conditions. This was stated by Edmon Marukyan, the head of the "Enlightened Armenia" faction, during a parliamentary briefing, noting that no discussions have yet taken place.
“We can organize elections under equal conditions only if you ask me. The elections must be held in a way that the results are not contested,” emphasized the deputy, adding that in his prediction, extraordinary parliamentary elections will take place within 6 months.
“I don't know who will do it, but there will be elections within 6 months,” he noted.
Regarding the possibility of the opposition giving up their mandates, Marukyan said that first, there is no public demand for that, and even if they do resign, the parliament will not dissolve; the next members on the list will come to the National Assembly instead. “This demand, arising from a low level of legal consciousness, should be removed from the agenda,” he stated.
