‘Zangezur, Sevan, Yerevan are our historical lands’: Aliyev's statement during today’s parade

The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, during a military parade held in Baku, declared a 'victory of justice' in Nagorno-Karabakh, hinting at the potential continuation of the war, including the possibility of the occupation of Armenian territory. This was reported by the publication Moscow Komsomolets.

In his speech, Aliyev mentioned that back in the 1980s, hundreds of thousands of Azerbaijanis were 'displaced from their native lands.'

‘Zangezur, Goycha (Sevan), Yerevan (Yerevan) are our historical lands,’ Aliyev stated.

He referred to the events of the 1990s and the subsequent independence of Nagorno-Karabakh as a 'blockade.' The return of part of Nagorno-Karabakh was described by him as the 'restoration of territorial integrity.'

At the same time, Aliyev hinted that the current geopolitical situation is not entirely favorable for him. He reminded that he has previously stated multiple times that if Armenia 'does not return their lands, this issue will be resolved by military means.'
