Economic Communications Unblocking is a Long-term Process, Maria Zakharova Details
Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, during a weekly briefing, responded to a question from News regarding the economic unblocking achieved according to the trilateral statement of the leaders of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. She stated:
“According to point 9 of the trilateral statement of the leaders of the three countries dated November 9, all economic and transport connections in the region are being unblocked. The Republic of Armenia ensures the safety of transport communication between the western regions of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic for the uninterrupted movement of citizens, vehicles, and cargo in both directions.
The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation's border service is responsible for monitoring transport communications. An agreement has also been reached between the parties to ensure the construction of new transport communications that connect Nakhchivan to the main territory of Azerbaijan. The unblocking of economic ties and the construction of new communications is a long-term process that requires the involvement of various specialized structures. The main issues must also be resolved by the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan, who have established special response mechanisms,” said Maria Zakharova.
She also noted that Russian specialists have conducted a preliminary inspection of the condition of the railways near the Nakhchivan and Armenian border.
