“Whoever finds 1 million dollars somewhere, opens a party.” Marukyan
“The political system was sick, and it remains sick,” said Edmon Marukyan, the leader of the Liberal Alliance, from the podium of the National Assembly during discussions on amendments to the constitutional law on parties.
“There was a revolution, a hope was born that the political system would soon recover… However, like all sectors undergoing change, this one has also remained incomplete… And now we are heading to snap elections, thinking that this law will change, and we will have very fair elections,” noted Marukyan.
“We know that this law is supposed to create healthy parties, whereas whoever finds 1 million dollars somewhere opens a party… They say, ‘It’s a good deal, it’s a parliamentary country, you open a party—nobody has a 50-60% rating, you’ll spend some money, you might get ten percent of the votes, and then you’ll come to power, become a stakeholder… This reflects the current political system's mindset,” emphasized the LHK leader, asserting that amending the law is still not a solution to the issue.
