Suspects Arrested in the Murder of Iranian Scientist

Iranian security services have identified and detained several individuals suspected of being involved in the murder of Iranian nuclear scientist and Deputy Defense Minister Mohsen Fakhrizadeh. This was reported by RIA Novosti, citing an interview with Hossein Amir Abdollahian, assistant to the chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s International Affairs Committee, on Al-Alam television.

The parliament member attributed responsibility for the assassination to Israel, emphasizing that Israel has “played its role” in the matter. At the same time, the official did not rule out that the assassination attempt may have involved “American or other intelligence agencies.”

According to Abdollahian, Israel has previously utilized the capabilities of other foreign intelligence services for such purposes and has recruited individuals not affiliated with it.

Fakhrizadeh was killed during an assassination attempt in Tehran Province on November 27. Iran’s Ministry of Defense confirmed that the scientist was in charge of the department organizing research and innovations within the ministry. He also served as the deputy head of the country’s Ministry of Defense.
