Arah Ayvazyan: Only Recognition of Artsakh's Right to Self-Determination Can Lead to Lasting Peace

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Ara Ayvazyan, emphasizes that the right to self-determination of Artsakh has been one of the pillars of the negotiation process, and that this right cannot be removed from the agenda through the use of military force.

During a joint press conference with French Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian, he stated, "Azerbaijan and Turkey, by initiating military aggression against the self-determination of Artsakh, have violated their international obligations, and Azerbaijan has also breached its commitments within the framework of the peaceful negotiation process. Since September 27, a new divide in the perception of the international community has emerged, as it has become clear that the Nagorno-Karabakh issue is not merely a territorial dispute. In all the areas of Artsakh that came under the control of Azerbaijan, there have been ethnic cleansings and war crimes, which once again proves the necessity of addressing the recognition of Artsakh's right to self-determination."

He added that only under these conditions can lasting and just peace be achieved, and only then can one think about peaceful coexistence in the South Caucasus and a new era.
