Turkey Detains 304 Military Personnel Across 50 Provinces

The Turkish Izmir Prosecutor's Office has issued a warrant for the detention of 304 military personnel on suspicion of ties to opposition cleric Fethullah Gülen, who is accused of organizing a coup attempt, according to Anadolu Agency.

The operation is reportedly being carried out in 50 provinces across Turkey, with 198 individuals already taken into custody.

Turkish authorities have blamed Gülen's organization, which they refer to as FETO (Fethullahist Terrorist Organization), for participation in the failed coup in July 2016. Since the coup attempt, over 80,000 people have been arrested in Turkey, and around 150,000 civil servants, including military personnel, have been dismissed from their jobs.

Gülen, who resides in the United States, has condemned the coup attempt and denied the charges against him.
