36-Year-Old Driver Crashes Land Rover into Rear of ZIL Truck, Casualties Reported
Today, December 8, a major and tragic car accident occurred in the Gegharkunik region. Around 4:10 AM, 36-year-old Arman Harutyunyan, a resident of the village of Tsaghkunq in Gegharkunik, crashed his Land Rover with the license plate 71 LQ 077 into the rear of a ZIL 4502 truck, license plate 769 AD 61, driven by 42-year-old Shahen Gevorgyan, while travelling towards Sevan on the Yerevan-Sevan-Ijevan highway at the 53 km mark.
According to photographer Gagik Shamshyan, the accident resulted in the death of the Land Rover driver A. Harutyunyan and his female passenger, whose details are still being identified, at the scene. Meanwhile, ZIL driver Sh. Gevorgyan and his passengers, local residents of Gegharkunik, 64-year-old Ararat Manucharyan and 57-year-old Movses Movsesyan, were taken to the ‘Sevan’ medical center with injuries.
The photographer reports that those hospitalized were employees at the “Dovag village road construction” company and were engaged in road preparation work, pouring salt and sand onto the road from the ZIL's cargo compartment at the time of the accident.
