The State Health Inspectorate Urges Compliance with Heating Norms in Educational Institutions

The State Health Inspectorate of the Republic of Armenia urges to comply with heating norms in educational institutions while conducting continuous monitoring in this direction.

In case of violations of heating norms, one can call the hotlines of the State Health Inspectorate at 8107.

The requirements for heating norms in public educational institutions are established by the order 12-N of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia, which can be found here.

According to this order, it is specified that:

  • Furnace heating is prohibited in the institution.
  • The following air temperatures must be maintained in the buildings of the institution:
    • In classrooms, teaching cabinets, lecture halls, libraries, health posts, locker rooms of sports halls, laboratories, group study rooms, and assembly halls: at least 18-22 degrees Celsius.
    • In vocational workshops, hallways, locker rooms, and recreational areas during cold weather: at least 18-20 degrees Celsius, while in sports halls: 17-19 degrees Celsius.
  • The relative humidity of the air in the institutions should be maintained within 40-60 percent.

These requirements apply to all educational institutions implementing general education programs, regardless of ownership and organizational-legal form, and departmental affiliation.
