The Catastrophic War Took the Lives of Our Best Boys: Felix Tsolakyan

Dear compatriots, 32 years ago on this day, December 7, 1988, at 11:41 AM, Armenia was shaken by the devastating Spitak earthquake. This was stated by the former Minister of Emergency Situations Felix Tsolakyan on his Facebook page.

He specifically noted, “Around 25,000 of our compatriots fell victim to the destructive earthquake, and tens of thousands became homeless. A significant portion of the republic's industrial potential and infrastructure was put out of commission.

Dear compatriots,
More than thirty years after the earthquake, when the wounds of the disaster had not even begun to heal, Armenia and the Armenian diaspora have once again found themselves in the midst of a catastrophe. The disastrous war unleashed by the enemy has claimed the lives of our best boys—the defenders of the Homeland. Our finest heroic boys fell in the line of duty for the sake of Armenia and Artsakh, for the present and future of the Armenian people, which each of us must acknowledge.

Dear compatriots,
In overcoming both the aftermath of the earthquake and the war, there is still much work to be done. It is essential to resolve all issues finally in an atmosphere of calm and solidarity, with precise and measured steps, which will ultimately soften the pain of our people.

I pay my respects to the memory of the innocent victims of the earthquake...
I bow in honor of the memory of our immortal boys for the Homeland...
Conscience and peace to us all...
