Heavy Memories Continue to Accompany All Those Who Survived Those Unspeakably Difficult Days: Governor of Lori
Governor of Lori, Andrey Ghukasian, issued a message on the occasion of the commemoration of the earthquake victims and the Day of Disaster Resilience.
Dear Lori residents,
It has been 32 years since the devastating earthquake, yet the heavy memories continue to accompany all those who experienced those unspeakably difficult days.
On this day of remembrance, I want to extend my heartfelt condolences to all the families who suffered losses, and express my gratitude to those from different parts of the world who came to our assistance.
Many areas of Lori province suffered tragic losses; we lost a significant portion of our residential buildings, industrial enterprises, and cultural-educational institutions. Unfortunately, even after all these years, we are still unable to rid ourselves of the consequences of being a disaster-stricken zone.
In the past two years, unprecedented work has been carried out towards a final solution to this problem, and by the end of next year, we are confident that, thanks to the efforts of the Government of Armenia and the Lori Governor's Office, the issue of housing for beneficiary families will be resolved definitively.
Dear Lori residents,
I wish for all of us that such calamities never occur again, and that our people continue on the unbroken path of development and prosperity.
