Is the Nagorno-Karabakh Scenario Possible to Repeat in Donbas? Pushkov's Response
The implementation of the Nagorno-Karabakh scenario in Donbas is impossible. Russian Senator Alexey Pushkov writes about this on his Telegram channel. According to the political figure, there is information coming from Kyiv that they plan to apply the Nagorno-Karabakh scenario to Donbas, thinking that if it worked for Azerbaijan, then why wouldn't it work for Ukraine?
"Such a scenario will not succeed for several reasons. First, Donbas and Luhansk have a common border with Russia, not with Armenia, and that is a decisive factor. Kyiv knows that Russia and Armenia are completely different entities. Second, Turkey openly assisted Azerbaijan. Ukraine cannot expect military support from the USA or NATO in this situation," said the senator.
He believes that indirect support will not be sufficient in the case of Donbas. Pushkov also recalled that the conflict around Karabakh ended with the presence of Russian peacekeepers there. There are currently no peacekeepers in Donbas.
"But if Ukraine decides to attempt to reclaim Donbas through military means, then the situation may change, which is not at all beneficial for Kyiv. And as we know, there are those within Kyiv's corridors of power who are in favor of ill-considered decisions," Pushkov noted.
He does not rule out that Ukrainian military personnel may be tempted to solve the issue through military means. Pushkov emphasizes that this would be a great mistake, as Donbas is not Nagorno-Karabakh.
