French Socialist Party to Send Delegation to Nagorno-Karabakh
The French Socialist Party will send a delegation to Nagorno-Karabakh from December 6 to 9. This was reported to Armenpress by the Armenian General Benevolent Union's office in Armenia.
According to a press release from the French Socialist Party, the delegation, headed by First Secretary Olivier Faure, will visit Nagorno-Karabakh to "share the pain caused by this conflict" and to analyze its "solutions."
"In a sign of our solidarity with the Armenian people, and in addition to the declaration from our National Office on November 17, the Socialist Party will send a delegation to the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh from December 6 to 9," the statement reads.
The Socialist Party noted that the purpose of this visit is not only to share the pain caused by the conflict but also to analyze the multilateral solutions necessary for its resolution and for lasting peace in the region.
The agenda for this trip includes meetings with the authorities of Artsakh and Armenia, such as the President of the Republic of Armenia, the President of Artsakh, the Speaker of Parliament, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Ombudsman. The delegation will also meet with displaced families in Armenia and Artsakh.
On November 17, the political bureau of the Socialist Party called on the co-chair countries of the Minsk Group (France, the United States, and Russia) to appeal to the UN Security Council to establish an international investigative commission to investigate war crimes and crimes against humanity that may have been committed by "Azerbaijani militants."
The delegation will include Olivier Faure, the First Secretary of the Socialist Party, the National Secretary for International Affairs, MP Isabelle Santigo, Senators Marie-Arlette Carlotti and Gilbert-Luc Devinaz, among others.
