Black Ice Reported on Vardenyats Pass and Roadways in Gegharkunik Province

The Ministry of Emergency Situations informs that as of 16:00, the roads in the Republic of Armenia are mostly passable. The roads leading to Amberd Fortress and Kary Lake in Aragatsotn Province are difficult to traverse.

Black ice has been observed in places on Vardenyats Pass and roadways in Gegharkunik Province. Snow has fallen in the regions of Syunik (excluding the city of Meghri) and Tavush (excluding the city of Ijevan), as well as in the Dilijan curves and in the towns of Yeghvard, Charentsavan, Hrazdan in Kotayk Province, Stepanavan, Tashir, Vanadzor in Lori Province, and Martuni, Chambarak in Gegharkunik Province.

Regarding the Lars situation: According to information received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia's Emergency Management Department and the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergencies of the Russian Federation in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars highway is closed to freight vehicles due to precipitation. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, the decision to prohibit foreign nationals from entering Georgia remains in effect. The ban does not apply to freight transport.

Drivers are advised to travel exclusively on winter tires.
