All Cities in Syunik Region Demand Nikol Pashinyan's Resignation
Leaders and council members from the cities of Goris, Kapan, Sisian, Meghri, and Kajaran in the Syunik region have issued a call demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his government.
In their statement, they specifically noted: “Armenia and Artsakh are facing a calamity; the country is on the brink of disaster, and Syunik is endangered. Since the first days of the war, Syunik has fought bravely and unitedly both on the front lines and in the rear. Today, all communities are addressing serious issues that will be discussed in the future. In these fateful days for Syunik, many questions remain unanswered and unresolved. Several issues related to the border are disputed, and during this decisive phase for the salvation of Syunik, the communities continue to play the main role as guarantors of security.”
“We have lost a significant part of Artsakh, we have thousands of casualties and missing persons, and numerous economic and humanitarian problems persist, the burden of which remains on the shoulders of the communities and is being executed with honor. In this context, even the smallest issues are not being resolved at the state level, as the entire governance system is currently paralyzed. The enemy has reached the gates of Syunik. At this moment, our top priority is the defense of Syunik and ensuring the safety of the population. Every minute is precious and can have irreversible consequences. In the current situation, we are increasingly convinced that it is impossible to neutralize the impending disaster with this government; thus, we demand the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his cabinet. This is not a matter of political maneuvering, but a question of saving the homeland and ensuring the safety of the people of Syunik.”
“We understand that tomorrow may be too late, so at this stage, we need dedicated forces that should act for the salvation of Syunik and to pull the country out of this disastrous situation. Therefore, we must all stand up and say no to this destructive situation.”
This demand for Pashinyan's resignation has also been joined by Kapan community leader Gevorg Parsyan and 13 council members, Kajaran community leader Manel Paramazyan and 10 council members, Goris community leader Arush Arushanyan and 13 council members, and Sisian community leader Arthur Sargsyan and 8 council members.
It is noteworthy that yesterday, similar calls for Pashinyan’s resignation were made by the mayor of Masis city in Ararat province, the Avshar municipality in Ararat province, and the Kasakh community in Kotayk province.
