On December 4, a powerful explosion occurred at an oil refinery located in the Durban area of the KwaZulu-Natal province, South Africa. This was reported by local news service News24.

"The explosion happened at Engen oil company’s facility, and emergency response teams are heading to the scene of the incident," said Robert Mackenzie, a representative of the KwaZulu-Natal emergency services.

He noted that it is still unclear whether there are any casualties and what the extent of the material damage is. Meanwhile, the eNCA television channel has posted videos of a severe fire at the facility on its portal.
