Importance of Ensuring Security for Artsakh's Civilian Population Recognized in French National Assembly Resolution: Armenian Foreign Ministry

Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Anna Naghdalyan has commented on the resolution adopted by the French National Assembly.

“We welcome the overwhelming majority vote by the French National Assembly recognizing the necessity of acknowledging Artsakh, which follows a similar resolution passed by the Senate last week. This unified stance from both chambers of the French Parliament symbolizes the decisive voice of France and the French people protesting against the aggression and ethnic cleansing policies being implemented by Azerbaijan with the support of Turkey and terrorist mercenaries against the people of Artsakh.

We consider it important that the resolution also acknowledges the necessity of guaranteeing the security of Artsakh's civilian population, the facts of Azerbaijan's military attempts to undermine the peace process, and the deployment of terrorist groups and mercenaries in Artsakh with Turkish support.

We value similar actions by the international community aimed at achieving a final and just resolution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship, and the recognition of Artsakh's status based on the right to self-determination, which has now become one of the main imperatives for ensuring the security of the Artsakh Armenian population,” the statement noted.
