I Can No Longer Stay Here: Details About the Captured Citizen
“I can no longer stay here, I am going back to stand guard over the little piece of my home.” These are the last words of Kamo Manasyan, a resident of the village of Sznag in the Askeran region, to his relatives.
During the war, Kamo and his family moved to Artashat, after which relatives hosted them in Ejmiadzin. Despite being well taken care of by everyone, Kamo Manasyan could not reconcile with his situation and decided to return to his native village, ready to fight and defend it if necessary.
“We couldn’t convince him not to go. He is a patriotic, noble man. He left on October 25, and we haven’t heard from him since November 1. There was contradictory information; we had heard that he had been captured, but we weren't sure. Today, we recognized Kamo Manasyan in one of the videos released by the enemy. The man is enduring the enemy's tortures,” a relative of the captured grandfather told ArmDay.am.
The video shows Kamo as indeed a brave and patriotic man. Despite the torture, he continually repeats that he has nothing to say to them; if they want, let them shoot.
Kamo Manasyan's family has contacted the Red Cross, but there have been no results yet. The enemy's methods are familiar to us. They humiliate and torture Armenian captives until the last drop, even filming it and posting it online. We all feel sorrow for every captive, regardless of their family connection. For all of us, the main issue at the moment is the return of the captives; however, the current authorities, especially Nikol Pashinyan, do not seem to be too concerned about this, and it seems they are not even addressing this issue.
