A Separate Support Program is Planned for the Displaced Residents of Berdzor, Says Minister of Social Affairs

A separate support program is planned for the residents of Berdzor and other communities who have been displaced from their homes. This was announced by the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia, Mesrop Arakelyan, on his Facebook page.

“Dear compatriots, the government has reviewed the open letter from the residents of Berdzor regarding the absence of their community in the support program. I inform you that a separate support program is being prepared for the residents of Berdzor as well as those from all other communities who have been displaced from their homes. This will be presented for approval in the coming days,” the minister wrote on his page.

Earlier, the residents of Berdzor had sent a letter to the government of Armenia and the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, referencing the social programs planned for displaced Artsakh residents, noting that nothing was set aside for Berdzor. “This raises, at least, surprise, as there is no logic in excluding Berdzor from that list. Do you think that those displaced from Berdzor do not have needs for housing, healthcare, or communal services? Should the residents of Berdzor not pay their rent, or has the coronavirus received special instructions to avoid us?” wrote the residents of Berdzor.

The open letter is available in more detail here.
