The Candidate for Prime Minister from the 'Bright Armenia' Party is Edmon Marukyan: Gevorg Gorgisyan

According to the decision of the governing council of the 'Bright Armenia' party, the party will participate in the elections with its own candidate for Prime Minister, who is Edmon Marukyan, leading the proportional list. This was stated by Gevorg Gorgisyan, the secretary of the 'Bright Armenia' faction in the National Assembly, on his Facebook page.

“I inform that yesterday evening we met with Ishkhan Saghatelyan, a representative of the ‘Armenian Revolutionary Federation’. Mr. Saghatelyan informed us that he is authorized to communicate on behalf of 16 parties regarding their decision, which is that the candidate for Prime Minister from 16 forces is Vazgen Manukyan, simultaneously asking us to share our position on this matter. During the meeting, both sides confirmed their positions on the issue of the resignation of the current Prime Minister Pashinyan,” Gorgisyan said.

“During the discussion, we raised questions regarding the programs of the joint candidate of 16 forces and the guarantees for organizing upcoming extraordinary transparent and fair elections. Many questions remained unanswered for us. We informed Ishkhan Saghatelyan that we respectfully approach their right to have a candidate for Prime Minister, but we believe that in this situation, a transitional Prime Minister should be someone who has not burned bridges with either side and who has a specific political team capable of taking responsibility for his premiership. There cannot be a situation where the 'Bright Armenia' party executes decisions accepted by other political entities,” he added.

According to the current decision, should the position of Prime Minister remain vacant, the faction will nominate Edmon Marukyan. We have requested Ishkhan Saghatelyan to inform the 16 forces about our position,” he concluded.
