Rouhani Tells Erdogan That Iran Will Avenge Nuclear Scientist's Assassination in Due Time
Tehran will avenge the assassination of Iranian nuclear physicist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh at the right time. This was announced by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani during a telephone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
"It is the right of the Iranian government to take vengeance for the blood of the slain at the appropriate time," Rouhani's remarks were quoted by the Tasnim agency, as reported by Armenpress, citing TASS.
Rouhani also noted that "if the other side (referring to the USA and the EU) fulfills its obligations under the nuclear deal, then Iran will return to the implementation of the agreement."
A failed assassination attempt occurred on Fakhrizadeh on November 27, who had led the research center affiliated with the country's Ministry of Defense in the Damavand region of Tehran province. Later, the Ministry of Defense confirmed that the scientist had been injured and subsequently died in the hospital.
Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif stated that there are traces of Israel in the assassination of the expert. According to Abolfazl Amouyi, an official representative of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Majlis (parliament), the assassination attempt was organized by Israeli intelligence services, potentially involving the intelligence of other countries.
