VIDEO: Vagharschapat Police Uncover Drug Trafficking Case, Two Arrested
The police officers from the Vagharschapat division’s department for juvenile affairs and prevention of family violence received operational information regarding illegal drug trafficking, which they acted upon on November 27.
Initially, a 54-year-old man was taken into custody from his home in the village of Hovtamaj, Armavir Province, on suspicion of drug possession and use. During a personal search, more than 17 grams of a substance resembling marijuana was found in his pocket. A criminal case was initiated, and the man was arrested while forensic examinations were ordered.
The police aimed to determine the source of the drug. Thanks to the operational and investigative measures taken by law enforcement, it was revealed that he had acquired the drugs in October from a 61-year-old man living in the village of Geghakert.
As part of the criminal case, on the morning of November 28, police officers conducted a search of the latter's home and auxiliary buildings, based on a court decision. Packages containing approximately 128 grams of a substance similar to marijuana were found. The 61-year-old man was also arrested. An investigation is ongoing.
