SCC Reveals Another Case of Drug Smuggling
The State Revenue Committee's Department for Combating Smuggling continues its fight against the illegal transfer of drugs and psychoactive substances across the borders of the Republic of Armenia. In collaboration with the employees of the National Security Service, the staff of the Smuggling Prevention Department have uncovered another case of drug smuggling.
Specifically, during inspections conducted at the "Zvartnots" Airport Cargo Complex, 100 blotters of the drug known as "LSD" were detected in an international express delivery package imported from the Federal Republic of Germany.
Following this incident, urgent operational-investigative measures were undertaken by the joint team of the Smuggling Prevention Department and the National Security Service. As a result of an operational-investigative measure termed "Controlled Delivery and Purchase", after receiving the package containing the drugs, an American citizen identified as I.B. was apprehended by the Smuggling Prevention Department.
In the framework of the criminal case initiated with the features of an offense defined by relevant articles of the RA Criminal Code, the individual has been detained.
