Members of 'My Step' Faction Are Gradually Leaving the Group

Member of the 'My Step' faction Gor Gevorgyan issued a statement yesterday, reaffirming that national solidarity and unity, as well as political stability, are indisputable priorities for him. 'The institutional solutions to the challenges facing Armenia and Artsakh can only be achieved through nationwide consolidation, political stability, and unwavering adherence to the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia. During these days, I have tried to direct my efforts towards dialogue with my colleagues, soberly assessing the situation and finding the most effective solutions for our state.'

He continued: 'At the same time, based on certain realities that have become evident during this period and the principled disagreements surrounding a number of key and problematic issues facing our state, I have made the decision to leave the 'My Step' faction and continue fulfilling my obligations to my constituents as an independent MP. I also want to emphasize that the most significant motive for starting my political activities has been the idea of contributing to the creation of a new, stronger Armenia. I have never been constrained in expressing my thoughts and positions, and in this regard, I believe that the decision I have made will be understandable to my colleagues in the faction who know well my commitment to always remain true to my principles and values.'

After this announcement, ArmLur.am received information that another member of the National Assembly 'My Step' faction, Sophia Hovsepyan, also intends to leave the faction. We spoke with the MP to understand whether she is planning to take such a step or not.

— Ms. Hovsepyan, do you have intentions to leave the 'My Step' faction? Are you discussing the continuation of your work as an independent MP? Are you having discussions regarding this matter?

— Who would I discuss it with?

— Haven’t you discussed it with the representatives or leadership of the faction?

— I haven’t discussed it with anyone and I won’t discuss it either, because if I come to the decision that I need to leave the faction, I shouldn’t ask, I should make a decision and inform them. That’s all.

— So, at this moment, have you made a decision?

— Right now, I don’t find it appropriate.

— You don’t find it advisable to leave the faction at this moment?

— At this moment, yes, otherwise I would have done it a long time ago, because when no one had written anything, I had already written it, I just didn’t submit it to the faction because I don’t have a problem with making hasty decisions, but I have a determination issue that needs to be resolved regarding several questions,' writes the newspaper.
