Individuals Hosting Artsakh Residents to Receive Financial Support from Government

The government of Armenia will provide social support to individuals who have temporarily hosted citizens displaced from the Republic of Artsakh due to military actions initiated by the Republic of Azerbaijan on September 27, 2020. This assistance is aimed at those who have hosted citizens registered in communities that are now out of the control of the Republic of Artsakh and who have been living in Artsakh for at least the last three months prior to the onset of the conflict.

According to a report by Armenpress, the draft decision regarding this support is included in the agenda of the government meeting scheduled for December 3.

Under the proposed plan, social support will be provided in the form of monthly cash assistance of 30,000 AMD for each hosted individual if the accommodation is in the Republic of Armenia, and 45,000 AMD if the accommodation is in the Republic of Artsakh, which is not subject to taxation under the laws of the Republic of Armenia.

To benefit from this program, applications must be submitted electronically, starting from December 25 for the month of December 2020 until January 12, 2021, and for the months of January to May 2021 from the 25th of each month to the 5th of the following month.

Applications must also include a photocopy of the identity document of the hosted individual. Social support will be provided only once a month for each hosted individual.

Furthermore, the provision of social support will be terminated if the hosted individual submits an application for cessation of support based on the termination of accommodation or if the government of the Republic of Artsakh provides information about the individual establishing permanent residence there.

The financial assistance will be transferred to the bank account of the hosts. The purpose of the project is to improve the financial situation of individuals hosting adult residents from communities that have come out of the control of the Republic of Artsakh.
