iLur Publishes Unreleased October 19 Statement by Levon Ter-Petrosyan

Today, the responses of former presidents of Artsakh, Arkadi Ghukasyan and Bako Sahakyan, to the posts made by Nikol Pashinyan over the past two days were published. By releasing the letter, iLur has provided additional information. Specifically, it is noted that, "In addition to the above, an agreement was reached that former presidents of Armenia, L. Ter-Petrosyan, R. Kocharian, and S. Sargsyan would also issue public messages of support, so that Pashinyan’s decision for an immediate ceasefire would not be perceived as his personal initiative and that the entire responsibility would not fall on him, in simpler terms, to save his face. Unfortunately, Pashinyan’s morbid vanity did not allow him to understand the importance of this step, and he categorically prohibited the publication of Arayik Harutyunyan’s letter, thereby also disrupting the release of the messages of support from the former presidents of Artsakh and Armenia." Ter-Petrosyan had even prepared his written statement, which we present to our readers' attention:

“From the first day of the Artsakh movement, the ‘Karabakh’ committee, the Armenian National Movement (ANM), and all subsequent authorities of Armenia have made no move regarding the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict without the consent of the leadership of Nagorno-Karabakh. Therefore, the current Armenian authorities cannot, moreover, have no right to ignore the demands of the Artsakh authorities.” — Levon Ter-Petrosyan

It should be noted that all of this took place on October 19 this year, when the conditions of the war were not yet catastrophic, and had the fire ceased at that moment, the Armenian side could have avoided thousands of new casualties and further territorial losses.
