A New School Will Be Built in Yerevan for 1 Billion 355 Million AMD
The reconstruction of Yerevan's 116th school has commenced through the Territorial Development Fund of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, with investments from the Armenian government and loan funds sourced from the Asian Development Bank.
Located in the Araratain 2nd district of the Malatia-Sebastia community, the three-story building was constructed in 1976 and is now in a non-seismic condition. Although the school was equipped with modern technology, including a fully furnished computer lab and equipped laboratories for biology, chemistry, and physics, the building's conditions made it impossible to ensure quality education in the area. Therefore, it was decided to demolish the existing structure and build a new one.
The new school will be designed to be seismic-resistant, capable of withstanding earthquakes of up to 9 magnitude. It will include fire safety and thermal insulation systems, heating facilities, and will be accessible for children with disabilities, featuring an elevator and a comfortable gymnasium.
A total of 1 billion 355 million 400 thousand AMD will be invested in the construction of the Yerevan 116th school, with 16.7% of the funding provided by the Armenian government, while the remainder is a loan from the Asian Development Bank. The new building is expected to accommodate approximately 450 students.
