We Must Do Everything to Prevent Our Prisoners from Being Paraded in Baku During the Victory Parade – Marukyan

The head of the Armenian National Assembly’s ‘Enlightened Armenia’ faction, Edmond Marukyan, stated today in a conversation with reporters that he believes Russia plays a significant role in the issue of prisoner return.

“It is the Russian Federation that mediated the signing of the statement, and at this moment, it is Russia that is monitoring which clause will be implemented when. Therefore, my demand has been for them to follow the issue of prisoner return, and I have addressed this matter to the President of Russia. On the other hand, since we had information that our prisoners might be paraded alongside our military equipment during the victory parade in Baku, I pointed out that this is prohibited under the Geneva Conventions, of which Azerbaijan is a party. Certain messages have already been sent to Azerbaijan from the UN, the Council of Europe, and the Red Cross stating that they do not have the right to do such things. In this regard, I express that we must do everything to ensure that this does not happen,” he stated.
