NSS Appeals to Prosecutor's Office Regarding Comments Presented During Garnik Isagulyan's Press Conference
On November 25, the National Security Service (NSS) submitted a request to the Prosecutor's Office of Armenia concerning the comments made by Garnik Isagulyan, the president of the National Security party, during his press conference, as reported by the NSS.
“Given the fact that numerous inquiries have been received from various media outlets regarding the statements made by Garnik Isagulyan during the press conference held a few days ago, the NSS finds it appropriate to clarify the following: There is no information available at the NSS regarding the credibility of the statements made during the aforementioned press conference.
At the same time, we would like to remind that in connection with the comments presented during the press conference, the NSS addressed the Prosecutor's Office of Armenia on November 25, 2020. Furthermore, we urge individuals and organizations with a misunderstanding regarding the functions of the NSS to refrain from publishing misleading information that generates internal tensions and undermines the authority of state institutions for understandable reasons.
We also inform that if the practice of disseminating misinformation and defamatory fake news regarding the NSS and its officials continues, appropriate legal measures will be initiated,” the NSS statement reads.
