Message from the Chief of Police of Artsakh

Armenian Republic Police Chief, Major General Ashot Hakobyan, sent a congratulatory message on the occasion of Police Day.

Dear colleagues and veterans of the Police of the Republic of Artsakh,

As a result of the large-scale war unleashed against the Republic of Artsakh in September, we are currently facing serious losses and various problems and difficulties. In this context, it is clear that this year we cannot emphasize the significance and meaning of this day as in previous years.

Our people are now confronted with numerous issues that require urgent and prompt resolution. The state of emergency declared in both Artsakh and mainland Armenia is still in effect. The external threats and dangers that jeopardize the existence of the Armenian people have not been neutralized.

Dear colleagues, it is our duty during this crisis and post-war period to unite for nation-building, restoring and flourishing our strengths, and enhancing our economy and military power while regaining national unity. We must perform our duties and responsibilities to the best of our abilities. This will be our tribute to our fallen brothers, friends, and loved ones, a unique and worthy way to repay our debt.

We are mourning deeply, and we bow before the memory of our 11 colleagues who fell heroically during the war, praying for the swift recovery and health of the more than three dozen injured colleagues, hoping they will return to our ranks soon.

But, as Movses Gorgisyan would say, “Grief is eternal if there is no struggle.” Starting today, for the sake of our friends and the future of our children, we must choose the path of struggle, learn from our mistakes, and reshape the future anew. Keeping alive in our hearts the memory of the brave warriors who fell in battle, let us dedicate all our strength to the sacred cause of saving and enriching our homeland.

I am confident that police will also play a significant role and make a notable contribution to the realization of our national aspirations.

Once again, I congratulate you on this occasion. I wish you strength of spirit, indomitable will, determination, and all the best.

May the Almighty Lord protect us and the Armenian people.
