Maradona's Doctor Charged with Involuntary Manslaughter
Argentinian authorities have launched an investigation into Dr. Leopoldo Luque, who treated the recently deceased footballer Diego Maradona, according to the BBC. The prosecutor's office is examining the possibility that the footballer's death could be a result of medical negligence.
Argentinian Todo Noticias reports that the doctor has already been charged with involuntary manslaughter, though this information has not been officially confirmed. Dr. Luque held a press conference, during which he tearfully stated that he did everything possible to save Maradona's life.
Argentinian prosecutors have conducted searches at Luque's home and private clinic in an effort to gather evidence for the case and determine whether the doctor may have been negligent.
