Ani Samsonyan Appeals to Police to Hold Perpetrators of Violence Against Activists Accountable
Today, several individuals launched an attack on participants of a peaceful demonstration in one of Yerevan's courtyards, subjecting them to violence. Specifically, the footage confirms that they hit the participants, used abusive language, pulled at them, and damaged the demonstration's banners.
This was reported by Ani Samsonyan, a member of the National Assembly from the 'Enlightened Armenia' faction, on her Facebook page, where she also attached a video of the attack on members of the Reformist party and activists who were peacefully demanding the resignation of My Step faction MP Koryun Mkrtchyan.
Ani Samsonyan has appealed to the Police of the Republic of Armenia, demanding that those who perpetrated the violence be held accountable. “It is predictable that extreme intolerance and hatred in society can lead to such incidents; if law enforcement does not prevent this by punishing the guilty, these events will become more frequent. I have always said and repeat that the number one responsible for public division and aggression on the grounds of hatred is the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan,” stated Samsonyan.
