We have faced failure on the battlefield, but not in diplomacy - Foreign Minister

The Foreign Minister of Armenia, Ara Ayvazyan, after a government meeting today, responded to a question from Tert.am about his views as a newly appointed minister regarding whether more could have been obtained from the ceasefire agreement and whether he considers it a failed document. He stated that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has announced that he takes full responsibility for the situation both before and after the war.

“That is your assessment; I do not comment on it. I have just assumed my duties. We have faced failures on the battlefield, and we must assess this correctly, as our soldiers heroically resisted against disproportionate forces. Now our entire challenge is to do everything possible to stabilize the situation,” he said.

When asked if there had been failures in diplomacy, he responded, “No, we have not faced failure in diplomacy.”

Addressing another journalist’s question about publications regarding him, Ara Ayvazyan stated, “Those who know about it know me very well, and if I have taken responsibility, then I find it, first and foremost, our duty, and the issue primarily relocates to the sphere of diplomacy. It is our duty to do everything possible and find a dignified solution; this is our obligation to our soldiers.”

In response to a question about what was positive in that document for us, he said, “The positive thing is that the war has been stopped.” Ara Ayvazyan did not answer the question of whether it was possible to stop the war any sooner.
